It isn't merely data, it is information. Information is the basis for
control. Control limits freedom. (I'm not only talking control by the
government here, you could include: clubs, submissions to newspapers,
insurance companies, banks, schools, friends, lovers, advertisers...)
Combining different sources of information provides you with more
information than each source alone. The really bad case is when the
distributed public available information is wrong.
