Here I am : )
I think I already suggested it, but the only particularly good book
that I know of about Java in general rather than about specific Java
technologies is "Thinking in Java" by Bruce Eckel. If you get other
book suggestions from off of the list, I'd like to hear about them.
I know of several C++ books that I consider 'required reading', and
of course there's "Design Patterns" by Gamma et al for any OO
development, but I am scarce on good Java treatments. Anything by
Sun or O'Reilly is generally good, but so far none of them have
amazed me like Stroustrup's or Scott Meyers' C++ books.
