Because it's entirely non-interactive. There are no useful
decisions for the player to make; no planning, goal-seeking, or
trade-offs to be considered: there's no gameplay to speak of.
At most there may be something pretty to look at, but that fades
quickly. There may also be a significant social component of
course, if people are chatting while watching something get crafted.
But that's not saying that watching your character craft an item is
fun, it's merely setting the stage for more or less forced
