That's an excellent point. We certainly intend to give the crafters
choices (we will allow use of different raw materials, instructions
and tools to give the items different qualities) but we haven't
spent enough time thinking about how to let crafters customize their
items beyond attaching some text to it (typically the crafter's
seal) at creation time. I still maintain that those are all
decisions to be made by the players when they prepare to craft the
item, and that in our system in which crafting takes a significant
time, that time should be allowed to happen offline. I realize you
weren't arguing that; I'm just indicating to others that my position
hasn't changed ;)
