You make a great observation about about the source of inflation and
two monetary systems. I think you may have to flesh out your
proposal a bit more, however. In a system where you can pick up 100
10gp swords an hour how much do you expect players to pay for
training to effectively remove this kind of currency? Also, current
implmentations of MUDs and MMOs typically have a ceiling of
levels/skills. Once you reach the end the issue of having no 'sink'
is back again. Even a few players with ridiculous accumulations of
wealth can throw off the entire economy.
