Intermud 3 Protocol Mirror of the InterMUD 3 communication protocol specification.
Intermud 3 Router File: intermud3-router.tar.bz2
File size: 30kb

The source code for the original Intermud 3 router. Written in LPC, this is a mini-mudlib that simply implements the routing functionality.

Back in the day when I first developed on a MUD, the MUD was named Phoenix. Not a name to my taste, it was also shared with another older MUD and our appearance on the Intermud 3 network under that name irked someone. In order to reserve the name belonging to his friends, who were not on the network, he hard-coded into the router a clause preventing any connections from the IP address we were using. Of course, he was not a developer of the router, but merely hosted it. The developers (or perhaps the primary active one) believed in non-censorship and didn't approve of this at all, and gave me the source code of the router so that I could verify there were no such modifications.

There were no real restrictions given to me on what I could do with the source code, just a very tentative and loose request that I not give it out in order to preserve the security of the router through obscurity.

The router languished and became unstable, then unconnectable. Since then, a new router has been written from scratch. This source code is made available for historical purposes, and in order to prevent its loss.
